![]() ![]() Shawn and I spent hours and hours and hours on trains back and forth from Boston to New York - we were shooting in Boston - doing rewrites on the film and creating a scaffolding that felt like it could sustain an Amblin type movie. 80s and 90s Amblin is all about wish fulfillment, and there's so much of the DNA of those movies that inspired us here in all the rewrites. Ryan Reynolds: References for this movie - for me, and certainly I can speak for Shawn here - are Amblin. Which cinema references did you have in mind while doing this film? Listening to music in my helmet through the Blue Mountains. But I remember some of those moments being moments that I could have on repeat for the rest of my life. I was trying to actually make it to Perth on a motorcycle from Sydney, which I found out midway through is incredibly dumb to try to do that. Years ago, I did a motorcycle trip in Australia. Ryan Reynolds: Good food, a little bit of fun. I feel like if I live my life on a loop like that, I would be a pretty happy person. Jodie Comer: I would try to include lots of really good food and some dancing. Wake up, get them ready for school, feed them, walk them to school, come home, try to go to a gym. Ryan Reynolds: Boy, I have three kids, six and under. If you both were like Guy, in a loop having your day over and over again, what would your day look like? Exclusively about Jodi's character, I'm sure. So, I think probably by the second act of the movie, I think he's probably dreaming pretty vividly. Every time he spends a minute or more with Jodie's character, his inner world or interior world grows and becomes more and more nuanced and dynamic. I mean, we'd love to play with this idea that his consciousness is kind of expansive. I think the longer he spends with Milly/Molotov Girl, I think that's where he probably would learn to dream. Do I think Guy dreams? That's a great question. Ryan Reynolds: Dreams? Wow, that's an incredibly thoughtful question. ![]() Ryan, do you think your character dreams? A big, scary, muscular, six-foot-three bunny. Jodie Comer: I think - honestly, just for my own amusement - I would give you the pink fluffy bunny. Basically, you were diffusing a bomb with a toothpick and the sweat of a panda. I remember on set, if a scene wasn't quite there, you would always find this extra gear or something. I would give you - I don't know if you can get a MacGyver avatar, but I would give you a MacGyver avatar. If you both had to select an avatar for the other that best represents them, what would it be and why? They broke down some of the most surprising aspects of the filming, and the motivations behind bringing such a story to the world.įree Guy examines how people see themselves online. Screen Rant joined several other outlets to chat about the film with stars Reynolds and Comer at a recent press event. ![]()
